A sponsor in a 12-step program plays a crucial role as a mentor, guide, and support system for someone new to recovery or struggling with their journey. Pretty much none of us would be here without the support of our sponsors – I know I wouldn’t – and most sponsors have sponsors of their own to whom they owe a large debt of gratitude.
We hope you can use 12 Step Smiles as a tool to offer your sponsees encouragement, inspiration and joy. Of course, this is also a wonderful way to remind your sponsees that they are not alone and to help brighten their day during the often challenging journey of recovery.

Perhaps you don’t yet have a sponsor. Or perhaps you do but still wish to receive consistent encouragement, inspiration and humor. As a sponsee in a 12-step program, you might want to become an ongoing recipient of a 12 Step Smile as a way to receive encouragement, stay reminded that you are not alone, and help have your day brightened during the often challenging journey of recovery.
